Choir Director and Organist Positions Available

Categories: Church,Church Information,Events

Do you possess a love for music and a passion to lead people in their worship of God? Has God given you a heart that enjoys helping others to offer their voices and musical talents for God’s glory? Do you like working with others toward God’s vision?

If your heart resonated with the questions above, might God be calling you to consider joining the staff at John Knox Presbyterian Church as our Choir Director, Organist/Church Musician or both?

We are advertising two separate positions since they involve diverse skills sets but we are open to the possibility that one person could do both positions if their gifts and passions are a match. We are seeking someone who loves God deeply, who has the “heart of a teacher”, who enjoys collaborating with others, and who has the ability to play the piano and organ.

John Knox Church wants to make an impact on other’s lives in our community for Christ. Our shared mission is to “radiate the peace of Christ…every day, every way”. We accomplish our mission in many ways and there are many positive things happening at our church. The right candidate would be joining a church staff that enjoys working together in a connected way to lead and equip all those in our church family to live out our mission. We are excited to discover who God will call to lead our music ministry at our traditional service which is at 9am.

This position (full-time, exempt) is expected to average 10-13 hours between both positions depending on how we configure it based on those who apply. There will be a 90-day evaluation so both the church and candidate can talk about whether the position is a good fit and, if so, whether any adjustments to the position description would be in order.

Attached to this release is the position description and also information on our church’s Vision Frame. Members and active participants in the life of John Knox Presbyterian Church will not be considered for this position.

If you are interested, please email your resume and a cover letter that expresses what interests you in the position and your sense of calling to as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Tom Houston at the church (330-494-9479) or via email ( for more information.

Would you be willing to consider a husband/wife team or is that not allowed in your staffing?
What kind of organ does your church have?
Is this position for your 9 am traditional services only?

I am interested in learning more about these positions. I have served as an organist and director of music for the last 12 years. You mention a position description and also information on your church’s Vision Frame. I cannot find these items. Would you please email them. Thank You, Jeff
