YOUTH SUMMER MISSION PROJECT
We all like to sit back and enjoy the many blessings that we have in our
lives - our family, our home, the food that nourishes us, the video games we play and
so much more. What would it be like if you had none of those things and needed a
helping hand just to make it through the day? This kind of situation can be seen in
places like Haiti and Japan or even in America's big cities today.
But what about here at home? Canton has the highest rate of poverty in the
state of Ohio. There are many people without a job, a home and even the most
basic of food needs.
We are often stuck in our bubbles where it is easy to pretend that these problems
don't exist. But there is real need out there! There is real need right here in
our own community! Our Mission Project this year is going to focus on seeing
the need that is all around us and esperiencing how we can help.
The goal of this Mission Project is twofold:
1. To introduce the idea of service and mission to our students by allowing them
to see need in their own community and partner with local organizations to take action.
2. Have the students take time to reflect on what God is teaching them about
their own lives and how we work into His plans for the community around them.

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
